Re: Depression - Help and support Ideas....
As others have said, you need to give yourself the best chance to tackle it before you start breaking down your personal situation. That means cutting out booze, drugs, fags if you can, start getting into a routine of a lot more sleep, improving diet, and spending more time outdoors and getting low-level exercise. It sounds like bollocks, but it's a good start.

One thing i would say Bolty is that exercise is a fucking great thing for mental health. One of the reasons (along with becoming a fat cunt) that my knee injury has fucked me up.

I think your mum 3.45 has come close, apart from the last line, we all get depressed
At some point in our lives, does not matter how big or strong you are.
Although seems to me that the younger generation do not appear to cope very well
With the stresses of life theses days IMO, maybe being a West Ham supporter don’t
Help either.

This may seem flippant, but magic mushroom season is coming up soon.

No joke. Do the research. They will help reboot your noodles.

Re: Depression - Help and support Ideas....
Good luck, Bolty son, depression's an absolute bastard to deal with. Been ok myself, but had experience with a couple of people close to me.

From that limited experience, it can be triggered by grief, bereavement, divorce etc., but also it can just take you down when you least expect it and everything's going well.

As others have said, living healthily, getting some exercise, getting a DOG, not cutting yourself off, not blaming yourself - all these are really helpful. But sometimes it's just a chemical thing that you just can't help, and ADs can really make a difference.

Bolt

Get to the doctors but don't take entry level meds that do fuck all he will offer. Ask for a.referral to your local adult mental.health team, who will do a full assessment of you, and het you on the right meds right away

They can take a few weeks to kick in and you won't notice it, but of you get complacent with them and fuck them off it will kick you in the arse.

Drink and drugs are lots of peoples 'outs' which is very common but this self medication will fuck you long term.

As has been said, exercise and non fast food has a massive effect, as does hydration I'm my opinion. Talking about it helps but as blokes we would rather cut our cock off.

Well done for putting it out there mate. And best of luck. Whomail if you need any help, but I cant help with the size of your head

Re: Depression - Help and support Ideas....
Wondered why you were quiet. Had it, few years ago, not nice. There is no reason for it either.

Drinking really is the worst thing, although at the time feels like its the only thing that helps.

Lets just blame who, 9 times out of 10 makes you depressed reading it.

Hope you're okay mate.

Re: Depression - Help and support Ideas....
Sorry to hear this, bolt. I hope that you get out of this mental state.

Yeah, drink and drugs will make the problem even worse. Try to do plenty of exercise as the endorphins which are released will make you feel much better mentally (as well as physically).

I know that it's tough to think this way but... Nothing really matters too much at the end of the day (apart from peoples' health etc. and all the rest of it) so try not to take anything seriously... Especially work. Christ. Bollocks to it.

FMOB son.... my sister has been going through this for a number of years. Nothing visible to see but then one thing happens and BLAM, you're in a world of pain for which an outsider can see no reason but you know something is wrong.

Have you seen a professional about it? Not a hooker but a doctor. Although the brass might be more useful.

The difficult thing about depression is getting people to understand the difference between the real thing and those that just mope about feeling sorry for themselves.

I notice you hit the pub beer garden this week, that was definitely an UP DAY but the good days are soon followed by many bad days.

Do you think your job is having a factor? Pressures at work? Extra responsibility with the wife (financially not in the sack).

For some people there could be a million different things that contribute to depression and for others there might only be one thing.

In short I recommend;
Stop looking at WHO
Stop supporting West Ham
Quit Estate Agency and be a children's entertainer (the non-noncy type)

That's a good start.

Re: Depression - Help and support Ideas....
Fucking hell, bolt.

Sounds to me like you got a massive dose of post wedding comedown and haven't quite shaken it off. Spend ages gearing up for it, have an immense day and then a few weeks in the sun on honeymoon and then it's all finished and nobody gives a shit anymore, back to the grind.

Exercise, loads of it. Set the alarm early and learn to get out of bed and go to the gym before you go to work, it'll give you a proper boost to start the day. Don't hit the booze and get yourself down the docs sharpish if you haven't already and get a prescription for some ADs.

Good luck son.

Drink and drugs should be cut out, but to back up what I mentioned about magoc mushrooms, here's an article from May this year.....

https://www.theguardian.com/science/2016/may/17/magic-mushrooms-lift-severe-depression-in-clinical-trial

Shrooms should not be labelled as drugs in the same way as strong skunk, Charlie or Whizz etc.

I read a headline earlier this week that proclaimed "Separating the Head from Heart" and thought to myself "Looks like BoltKunt has resigned then".

The tragedy of that story was that even though it was utter genius, there was absolutely no-one I could share it with. So Yes, I have also experienced depression.
